Ward pihêsiwin ᐱᐦᐁᓯᐏᐣ

Vision Statement

As a proud, long-time resident of Ward pihesiwin and a retired Police Officer with over 31 years of service, I’m running for City Council as an Independent candidate — free of political slates or agendas. I believe municipal politics should focus on serving the community, not partisanship. My promise is simple: to listen, act with integrity, and stay focused on the issues that truly matter to residents.A Voice of Experience and Accountability
Throughout my career, I’ve led crime management, traffic safety, and domestic violence initiatives right here in the Ward. I’ve built a reputation on action, not talk. My “Sgt LaRrY Says” bulletins kept our communities informed, and I remain committed to transparency and accessibility. You will be heard — and your concerns won’t be dismissed with vague studies or behind-closed-door decisions.
Getting Back to Basics
Too often, Council has drifted from its core responsibilities. While major snowfalls leave critical fire and EMS routes blocked, resources are prioritized elsewhere. Our roads are crumbling, transit feels unsafe, and infill projects are pushed through without sufficient consideration of impact on neighborhoods.
I believe in returning to fundamentals:Safe, clean, and well-maintained streetsResponsible development that respects community characterPublic safety policies that actually workAccountable spending focused on resultsSmart Solutions, Not Simplistic Slogans
Public safety isn’t a slogan — it’s a system. Crime is a reflection of multiple overlapping failures: mental health, addictions, justice, housing, and education. Police cannot solve it alone, and oversimplified fixes like “just add more bylaws” don’t work without resources to enforce them. I bring firsthand knowledge of what works, and what doesn’t.
On Policing and Public Trust
I will always support our Police Service. I reject efforts to defund or discredit their work while they're stretched thin. But support doesn’t mean blind spending — it means strategic investment, efficiency, and ensuring officers are where they’re needed most.
On Infill and Density
I do not support the current infill regulations that are transforming stable neighborhoods for the benefit of a few developers. Thoughtful density is possible — but not without careful planning, adequate parking, and respect for community identity.
On Fiscal Responsibility
The tax-and-spend model has reached its breaking point. Residents are paying more and getting less. It’s time for real accountability and prioritization. We can’t afford vanity projects while seniors are priced out of their homes and sidewalks remain broken from the 1970s.
My Commitment to You
I will listen. I will act. I will represent you — not City Hall, not a slate, not special interests.
This election isn’t about slogans or speeches. It’s about getting back to basics, making smart decisions, and restoring trust between citizens and their Council.Larry Langley
